The current collection of the Lebanese National Library includes documents that had been stored in 3400 boxes after the closing of the National Library (Dar Al Koutoub Al Wataniah) in 1979.

Recent acquisitions have made additions to this ancient collection through personal donations, the ISBN, and the Ministry of Culture (See the collection development at the LNL workshops)

The collection includes:
  • Rare documents
  • Manuscripts
  • Paintings
  • Books
  • Periodicals (gazettes, magazines, newsletters …)
  • Government publications
  • Maps and Plans
  • Postcards
  • Music scores
  • Posters
  • Electronic documents (CDs, DVDs...)
Historically, the first collection of the Lebanese National Library was provided by the private collection of Viscount Philippe de Tarrazi.
